The Crematory

Opened in 1947, the crematory at Swan Point was the first in Rhode Island. A new crematory was completed in 1991 in a building located just north of the administration building.

To meet the increasing number of requests for cremation, Swan Point’s crematory was renovated and expanded in 2014. The new facility includes a larger committal chapel, the Chapel of Hope and Memory, which seats 80 guests and offers audio-visual capabilities. The chapel provides a beautiful, dignified space for committal services and can also serve as a backup to our other two chapels if needed. The crematory features state-of-the-art cremation equipment, and an attractively appointed viewing room with a switchable glass privacy wall that allows family and friends to witness the casket being placed into the cremation chamber, which is often done for religious purposes. Families and friends are able to accompany their loved one to the crematory to pay their final respects, much like attending a graveside service when burial has been chosen.

Our full-service crematory has an impeccable reputation for providing compassionate, respectful services by a highly trained, certified cremationist.

We are confident that our new crematory offers comfortable, state-of-the-art facilities that will serve our community for many years to come.
